for performances 1. COME HEAR: come on down to a show. the more people i "draw" the more likely venues will have me back. this is especially important if i'm playing in a city like NeW YorK or BosToN (see #4). 2. SPREAD THE WORD: if i am playing and you can't make it, tell a friend or family member who might be interested. 3. POSTER THE TOWN NEON: i will be more than glad to send you a packet of promotional materials 2 weeks before a show so that you can plaster all the good public places. this is SO helpful when i play somewhere far away from home. as i get more well known and play cooler venues, i will keep a list of my "street team" and give you all sorts of perks for you trouble. basic flyers available here to print. 4. CITY-DWELLERS, BRING YOUR POSSE: if you live in a city (or have friends who do) try and bring friends to a show. NeW YorK or BosToN venues are interested in performers who bring in a crowd. i just don't have that many friends... yet! |
local newspapers and t.v. stations
1. HARK, HERALD-ANGEL! newspapers loved to be informed. let your favorite paper know i'm performing in your town by sending them an email with the date, time, place and nature of my performance. maybe one of the organizations you are a part of has a newsletter? 2. RAT ME OUT: call up the music reviewer of your local newspaper and tell them they HAVE to come down and see me play. if they can't make a specific date to review a show, ask them if they would do a phone interview to be printed prior to the show. 3. BREAKING NEWS: email or call your local t.v. station when i'm performing in your town and tell them you'd like them to give me a live interview.

1. SEND ME: have your favorite local dj listen to my cd by mailing one in with a press kit and a personal note. 2. REQUEST ME: follow up and request a song. i can do this till the cows come home, but it makes a difference when it's a LISTENER calling in. if you have to send a cd you bought i will gladly send you another one for free.
